Fantastic opportunity to join a hi-growth contracting company as the Corporate Controller, overseeing all of the monthly accounting duties and managing a small team. This role will work directly with a strong CFO who will groom this person over the next 8-10 months to take over his role. Contracting/construction accounting experience a must.
Job Summary:
The Controller will perform all activities necessary for the day-to-day accounting of the Company. This includes supervision of the three team members in charge of Payroll, Accounts Receivable and Accounts Payable. The Controller reports directly to the CFO as well as the Principals of the company.
Job Responsibilities:
- Prepare and complete weekly check runs for vendors.
- Prepare and complete bi-weekly check runs for Subcontractors.
- Review and sign monthly billings to General Contractors/customers.
- Pay and post Principals credit card statements.
- Daily cash flow management and bank account transaction review.
- Monthly closing of the books and records to include:
- Run the monthly WIP meetings
- Prepare and record all WIP calculations
- Reconcile Trial Balance accounts and record Journal Entries as needed.
- Prepare ancillary monthly reports; billings by month, financial statements by department, final WIP report and Gross Profit history.
- Send month end P&L, balance sheet and ancillary reports to Principals with comments and highlights.
- Maintain Bonding company relationship in conjunction with Principals and CFO.
- Maintain Banking relationship in conjunction with Principals and CFO.
- Prepare financial statements and all necessary analysis / reports for the Year End Review by outside CPA firm.
- Financial budgeting with Principals as needed.
- Collection of Accounts Receivable in conjunction with other company employees.
Education and Experience:
- Completion of a bachelor's degree in accounting.
- Five to seven years of experience with the day-to-day accounting and financial operations of an organization of at least 50 team members.
