Location of Position

Position Duties

Reviews, verifies and interprets information to determine and resolve problems involving the calculation of adult inmate prison sentences in accordance with State laws and DPSCS regulations and policies.

  • Review sentencing and release orders, accurately compute inmate terms, diminution credits and release dates; record calculations within commitment and diminution records.
  • Verify accuracy of inmate term, credit and release date calculations.
  • Accurately compute and/or verify calculations adjusted for time spent on escape, parole, mandatory supervision or court‑ordered releases.
  • Assign, review, approve, and train lower‑level Commitment Records Specialists; monitor work and report progress to supervisor.
Minimum Qualifications

Education: Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of a high school equivalency certificate.

Experience: Two years of experience in reviewing, verifying, and interpreting information for determining prison sentences in accordance with applicable laws and DPSCS regulations and policies.

  • Experience working in the Public Safety sector.
  • Experience assigning, reviewing, and approving work of lower‑level Commitment Record Specialists.
Special Requirements

Employees in this classification are subject to call‑in 24 hours a day and may be required to provide a telephone number for contact.

Selection Process

  • Personal Leave – six (6) personnel days (prorated based on start date)
