POSITION
DESCRIPTION:
The Rusan lab () within the Cell and Developmental Biology Center (CDBC) at the NHLBI is seeking two postdoctoral fellows. The primary mission of the Rusan Lab is to assist you in launching your independent career. We offer a fully funded position for up to 5 years, allowing you to focus entirely on developing a future research program.

Funding will be provided to attend two conferences per year - Mentoring opportunities:
Opportunities to mentor postbaccs and summer interns to build your teaching/mentoring portfolio - Grant writing support:
Targeted support for external and internal fellowships, including the dedicated K22 Career Transition Award for Intramural Fellows. - Job market preparation:
Intensive training for the tenure-track market. Includes feedback on application packages, job talks, and chalk talks from senior NHLBI members with extensive track records of helping former fellows initiate independent labs. - Computational resources:
Government-furnished desktops, laptops and tablets will be provided. All Fellows have access to Biowulf, one of the largest biomedical research-focused supercomputing systems in the world.
While projects are tailored to the fellow's interests, our lab broadly explores:
- Cytoskeleton & Centrosome Biology
- Spermatogenesis & Mitosis
- Human Disease Modeling & Therapeutic Screening (with the NIH Undiagnosed Disease Program)
primarily Drosophila (genetics background not required), with expanding work in human disease models.
Qualification:- Candidates must hold a doctoral degree.
Appointees may be U.S. citizens, lawful permanent residents, or foreign nationals with or eligible to obtain a valid employment authorized visa. This position is subject to a background investigation. Salary is commensurate with education and experience.
