Job Summary
Our client is seeking a Database Security Subject‑Matter Expert / Technical Lead to join their team! This position is located in Bethesda, Maryland.
Responsibilities- Secure and monitor enterprise database systems including Oracle, SQL Server, Postgre
SQL, MySQL, and other common database platforms. - Operate web and database vulnerability assessment tools, analyze results, and implement remediation strategies.
- Manage large-scale production databases, ensuring secure configuration, patching, and access controls.
- Integrate database security solutions with SIEM platforms:
Splunk, to monitor and alert on security events. - Develop and maintain database security policies, procedures, and documentation.
- Conduct risk assessments, vulnerability analysis, and remediation planning for database environments.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams and stakeholders to implement enterprise-wide database security standards.
- Mentor junior staff and provide technical guidance on secure database administration practices.
- Ensure compliance with federal cybersecurity frameworks and industry best practices for database security.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Cybersecurity, or related field.
- 5+ years of experience in database security, database administration, or information security.
- 3+ years of experience securing diverse database platforms in enterprise or large-scale environments.
- Proven experience managing 1,000+ production databases in enterprise environments.
- Hands‑on experience with mixed database technologies in enterprise contexts.
- Expertise in vulnerability assessment tools and interpreting results to mitigate database risks.
- Experience integrating database security tools with SIEM platforms:
Splunk. - Strong problem‑solving and analytical skills for identifying and addressing database security issues.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills for conveying complex database security concepts to technical and executive audiences.
- Ability to develop policies, SOPs, and compliance documentation for secure database operations.
