Job Summary

Our client is seeking a Database Security Subject‑Matter Expert / Technical Lead to join their team! This position is located in Bethesda, Maryland.

Responsibilities
  • Secure and monitor enterprise database systems including Oracle, SQL Server, Postgre

    SQL, MySQL, and other common database platforms.
  • Operate web and database vulnerability assessment tools, analyze results, and implement remediation strategies.
  • Manage large-scale production databases, ensuring secure configuration, patching, and access controls.
  • Integrate database security solutions with SIEM platforms:
    Splunk, to monitor and alert on security events.
  • Develop and maintain database security policies, procedures, and documentation.
  • Conduct risk assessments, vulnerability analysis, and remediation planning for database environments.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams and stakeholders to implement enterprise-wide database security standards.
  • Mentor junior staff and provide technical guidance on secure database administration practices.
  • Ensure compliance with federal cybersecurity frameworks and industry best practices for database security.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Cybersecurity, or related field.
  • 5+ years of experience in database security, database administration, or information security.
  • 3+ years of experience securing diverse database platforms in enterprise or large-scale environments.
  • Proven experience managing 1,000+ production databases in enterprise environments.
  • Hands‑on experience with mixed database technologies in enterprise contexts.
  • Expertise in vulnerability assessment tools and interpreting results to mitigate database risks.
  • Experience integrating database security tools with SIEM platforms:
    Splunk.
  • Strong problem‑solving and analytical skills for identifying and addressing database security issues.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills for conveying complex database security concepts to technical and executive audiences.
  • Ability to develop policies, SOPs, and compliance documentation for secure database operations.
