Data Science Manager, Data Analyst
Overview
The National Institutes of Health (NIH), Office of Data Science Strategy (ODSS), is seeking Postdocs to participate in the Immersive STEM Learning Fellowship. This fellowship focuses on cultivating scientific exploration and professional growth through FAIR data principles and analytics projects that advance the NIH data ecosystem.
Responsibilities- Develop a foundational understanding of NIH data ecosystem initiatives and ODSS strategic goals.
- Apply FAIR data principles to promote scientific discovery and reproducibility.
- Conduct landscape and gap analyses to identify unmet needs, duplication, and areas for strategic investment.
- Design and implement analytics projects to evaluate the adoption and impact of FAIR practices and persistent identifiers.
- Collaborate with NIH Institutes, Centers, Offices, and the broader research community to exchange ideas and insights.
- Strengthen skills in strategic analysis, program evaluation, and informatics leadership.
Fellows will receive a monthly stipend to offset living and other expenses during the appointment. Stipend rates are determined by NIH officials and are based on the candidate’s academic and professional background. NIH may also provide a health insurance supplement to cover monthly premiums if the ORAU/ORISE plan is elected.
Location and TermFellows may work in-person or remotely. In-person location is Bethesda, MD.
The appointment is initially for one year and may be renewed for an additional four years upon recommendation and funding availability.
Selection TimelineInitial review of applications occurs July 1, 2026, followed by rolling reviews throughout the 2026 calendar year. Selections are made as projects become available.
Qualifications- Candidate must be 18 years or older at the time of application.
- Doctoral degree in a relevant field earned within the last five years (or actively pursuing).
- Current graduate students may apply if their degree will be conferred by the start of the fellowship.
Open to U.S. citizens, Lawful Permanent Residents, and foreign nationals. Non‑U.S. citizens should refer to the NIH guidelines for permissible immigration status.
