Job SummaryEMCOR Government Services has an opening for a Chief Engineer in Bethesda, MD. The Chief Engineer will supervise personnel and perform maintenance and repair of equipment at the Intelligence Community Campus in Bethesda. The scheduled hours are Monday - Friday 6:00 am – 2:30 pm. This position is covered by the CBA for Local 99.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities- Supervise and assist with the maintenance of site equipment and building structure.
- Prepare watch schedules in a timely manner.
- Assist EMCS Tech with monitoring, maintenance, and repairs of the BMCS systems on the site.
- Troubleshoot all equipment on site.
- Supervise the performance of preventive maintenance of all equipment on site.
- Institute corrective action and/or inform supervisor of any deficiencies found in the course of performing the job.
- Provide monthly reports on the preventive maintenance system.
- Attend meetings with client and USG and be prepared to provide corrective solutions to site issues.
- Supervise Lead HVAC Supervisor, EMCS Tech, HVAC mechanics, HVAC tour mechanics, and general maintenance workers.
- Monitor subcontractors in their tasks and provide reports when needed.
- Perform other tasks as directed by supervisor.
- Engineering license required;
Class I preferred. - Seven (7) or more years of experience in maintenance and repair of commercial‑industrial building equipment, including but not limited to:
- Chillers (±500 tons)
- Pumps
- Control systems
- Air handlers, cooling towers, heat exchangers, VAVs, VFDs
- Ability to read and understand blueprints, schematics, and specifications.
- Practical knowledge of chiller plant operations.
- Practical knowledge of building air systems.
- Currently possess an active TS/SCI security clearance with FSP.
- Heavy physical effort (lift/carry up to 50 lbs / push up to 100 lbs)
- Prolong, extensive or considerable standing/walking.
- Push/pull or move/lift equipment, supplies and parts.
- Manual dexterity and mobility.
- Considerable reaching, stooping, bending, kneeling and crouching.
