Registered Nurse - Telemetry

Location:

Bethesda, MD

Shift Type:  Flexible per diem days, 6:45 AM - 7:15 PM, Day shift (12-hour telemetry shifts as scheduled); commitment: 4-6 shifts per month

Candidate Pay Rate:  $50 - $54 per hour

Taxable weekly :  $600

Non-taxable weekly :  $2576

Roles & Responsibilities

Operate and monitor telemetry and ECG systems and accurately place ECG electrodes

Interpret cardiac rhythms and promptly communicate changes to physicians and the care team

Obtain, analyze, document, and post rhythm strips per protocol or physician order

Recognize life-threatening dysrhythmias and activate emergency response procedures

Provide rapid clinical judgment and interventions for acute cardiac events

Monitor pulse oximetry and temporary pacemakers, identifying failures to sense, pace, or capture

Administer IV cardiac and antiarrhythmic medications according to policy

Maintain telemetry equipment and ensure compliance with telemetry protocols and SOPs

Support post-cardiac surgical care including post-catheterization, CABG, thoracotomy, and chest tube management

Participate in continuing education and unit skill validations to maintain competency

Qualifications

Active, unrestricted RN license in a U.S. state, territory, or DC

Graduate of an accredited school of nursing (Diploma, ADN, or BSN)

Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required

Basic Dysrhythmia course certificate required

Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) preferred

Minimum one (1) year of full-time experience within the past three years caring for adult patients in an acute care telemetry setting with cardiac monitoring

Eligible to work on a Federal Government contract and willing to complete the federal clearance process (typically 2-3 months)

Education

Graduate of an accredited school of nursing (Diploma, ADN, or BSN)

Knowledge & Skills

Strong telemetry and ECG monitoring skills, including electrode placement

Confident rhythm interpretation (rate, PR, QRS, QT, ST changes, ectopy)

Ability to recognize and respond to life-threatening dysrhythmias

Experience with temporary pacemaker monitoring and troubleshooting

Familiarity with cardiac anatomy, physiology, and conduction systems

Skilled in documentation of rhythm strips, monitoring data, and clinical findings

Comfort administering IV cardiac and antiarrhythmic medications per policy

Excellent communication and interdisciplinary teamwork skills
