Role Description
The Nurse Practitioner Clinical position at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center is a full-time outpatient specialty care role supporting the Nephrology service within the Department of Medicine. The provider would be responsible for managing patients with chronic and complex kidney-related conditions, conducting patient evaluations and follow-up appointments, developing treatment plans, coordinating specialty care, ordering and interpreting diagnostic testing, educating patients on disease management, and collaborating closely with physicians and interdisciplinary medical teams.
The role is within a large military treatment facility environment serving active duty service members, retirees, and dependents, and requires strong clinical judgment, professionalism, documentation skills, and the ability to function independently in a fast‑paced specialty clinic setting.
- Master’s degree in Nursing from an accredited program recognized by ACEN or CCNE.
- Current, full, active, and unrestricted Registered Nurse license.
- National board certification as a Nurse Practitioner through ANCC, AANP, or another nationally recognized certifying body appropriate to the specialty area.
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
- Ability to meet military credentialing and privileging requirements.
- Basic life support (BLS) and advanced cardiac life support (ACLS) certification.
- Experience providing care to military personnel and their families is preferred.
- Clinical competency sufficient to independently function as a Nurse Practitioner within the assigned specialty clinic environment.
