Pay Range:$27.81 - $51.64
Organization:This position is for The Center for Cancer and Blood Disorder in Bethesda, MD.
Key Performance Areas:- Safely and accurately mix and administer chemotherapeutic agents to patients as ordered by company physicians. Use ONS standards and guidelines. Accurate and safe disposal of biohazardous waste, per OSHA and HRS guidelines.
- Responsible for ongoing patient assessment.
- Documentation:
Thorough and accurate documentation in OncoEMR of treatment rendered to patients. Ensure appropriate charges are captured by following guidelines for the appropriate administration of all medications. - Follow company y with every patient encounter. Teach as moderator/instructor for chemotherapy classes as needed. Educate patients and family about medications, side effects, and planned treatment course. Interact with patients and families in a caring, professional manner.
- Telephone triage: includes prioritizing incoming calls and messages from patients, family members, hospitals, nursing facilities, pharmacies, and physician offices from emergent to non‑urgent. Must respond accordingly in an appropriate time frame.
- Supplies: assist with inventory and re‑stocking medical supplies when called upon. Recommend purchase of new items as needed. Place stock in storage areas in a timely manner.
- Nucleus: have working knowledge of dispensing medications via Nucleus. Able to perform cycle count, restock medications within the appropriate time frame, and enter all appropriate patient charges into Nucleus.
- Meetings: attend annual Safety / OSHA training meetings and all mandatory staff meetings as necessary.
- Maintain and ensure the confidentiality of all patient and employee information at all times.
- Assist in training new employees to related job duties.
- Will be expected to work at any company location to help meet the company’s business needs.
- Comply with all federal and state laws and regulations pertaining to patient privacy, patient rights, personnel law, safety, labor, and employment law. Adhere to company and departmental policies and procedures, including IT policies and procedures and Disaster Plan.
Qualifications:
- Registered Nurse, licensed in the state of employment, with experience in IV therapy.
- Experience with hematology/oncology patients in a clinic or hospital is required.
- The ability to assess patient needs and conditions is essential. Must have strong critical thinking skills, as well as the ability to react calmly and effectively in emergency situations.
- Current CPR & BLS certifications are required.
- Fluency in English with excellent oral and written communication skills is required.
- Valid driver’s license in state of residency for travel to clinics.
