Our services support children from newborn through adolescence and include evaluation and treatment of acute illnesses and minor injuries, newborn care, sports physicals, point-of-care testing, medication guidance, and parent education. At Mama Medics, we believe exceptional pediatric care should be clinically excellent, highly responsive, and centered around the needs of the entire family.
As our practice grows, we are seeking a compassionate and experienced Pediatric Nurse Practitioner to join our team in a flexible, part-time or per-diem capacity.
Position OverviewThe Pediatric Nurse Practitioner will provide in-home and virtual pediatric care while collaborating closely with the Mama Medics clinical team. This position is ideal for an experienced provider who values autonomy, flexibility, relationship-based care, and the opportunity to help shape a growing pediatric practice.
Responsibilities may include:
- Evaluating and treating acute pediatric illnesses and minor injuries
- Conducting in-home pediatric visits and telemedicine appointments
- Performing newborn assessments, sports physicals, and other scheduled services
- Obtaining and interpreting point-of-care testing, as appropriate
- Prescribing medications and developing evidence-based treatment plans
- Providing clear education, reassurance, and follow-up guidance to parents and caregivers
- Identifying children who require a higher level of care and coordinating appropriate referrals
- Completing timely and thorough clinical documentation
- Collaborating with physicians, pharmacists, and other members of the Mama Medics care team
- Representing Mama Medics with warmth, professionalism, sound clinical judgment, and discretion
- Master's or doctoral degree from an accredited Pediatric Nurse Practitioner program
- Current national certification as a Pediatric Nurse Practitioner
- Active, unrestricted Nurse Practitioner and Registered Nurse licenses in Maryland; DC and/or Virginia licensure is preferred or may be required as the practice expands
- Current prescriptive authority and required controlled-substance registrations, as applicable
- Current BLS certification; PALS certification preferred
- Minimum of two years of pediatric clinical experience preferred
- Strong pediatric assessment, diagnostic, and clinical decision-making skills
- Experience in pediatric primary care, urgent care, emergency medicine, hospital medicine, or another acute pediatric setting strongly preferred
- Comfort practicing independently in patients' homes while maintaining close communication with the clinical team
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to provide calm, thoughtful guidance to families
- Reliable transportation and willingness to travel locally for in-home appointments
- Ability to maintain patient confidentiality and comply with all HIPAA and documentation requirements
- Availability for a flexible schedule that may include select evenings or weekends
- A collaborative, dependable, and entrepreneurial mindset
Mama Medics offers a flexible opportunity to practice pediatric medicine in a personal and meaningful way-without the limitations of a traditional high-volume clinical setting. Compensation will be structured on an hourly or per-visit basis and will be based on experience, availability, and responsibilities.
