Research Nurse Specialist
We are currently searching for a skilled Registered Nurse with clinical research experience to fill a Research Nurse Specialist position that will meet the overall operational objectives of the National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute (NHLBI) through the provision of research support services. The Research Nurse Specialist will function within a team of clinical providers and research support staff to support the coordination and execution of NHLBI's research protocols and clinical trials within the specialty areas of hematology-oncology, cardiology, pulmonary, sickle cell disease, vascular medicine, and cellular therapy.
This is a full-time opportunity located in Bethesda, MD.
Responsibilities include:
- Working with a diverse clinical research team including physicians, advanced practice providers, patient care coordinators, protocol navigators, and data managers to support the coordination of clinical research studies.
- Coordinating clinical research activities to meet the study protocol requirements and manage the research participant's experience throughout the life cycle of a study.
- Counseling and educating patients participating in research studies, including following up with patients in long-term studies.
- Facilitating patient recruitment and enrollment into ongoing research studies.
- Supporting compliance with protocol regulatory requirements.
- Managing clinical research data and supporting data quality assurance.
Qualifications include:
- Bachelor’s degree in nursing or related field with minimum 2+ years of nursing experience.
- Active, current license as a Registered Nurse in the United States, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or a territory of the United States.
- Minimum 2+ years of experience in a research setting, including clinical research coordination.
Preferred qualifications include:
- Clinical Research certification.
- Nursing experience in cardiology, pulmonary, hematology-oncology, vascular medicine, and/or sickle cell disease.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to adapt to fast-paced, high-acuity research environments.
The annual salary range for this position is $74,000.00-$. Compensation decisions depend on a wide range of factors.
