Certified Nursing Assistant
$22 - $25 an hour Four Full-Time Openings | 13-Week Contract | Bethesda, Maryland
We are seeking four experienced Certified Nursing Assistants to provide direct patient care at the NIH Clinical Center. These are 13-week contract assignments with the possibility of long-term or permanent full-time opportunities based on performance and continued staffing needs. Schedule full-time, 36 hours per week Day/night rotating schedule Initial orientation will take place during weekday day shifts Continued availability for both day and night shifts is required
Minimum Qualifications- Current Certified Nursing Assistant certification
- At least two years of acute-care hospital experience
- Current Basic Life Support certification
- Demonstrated competency in providing direct patient care
- Ability to communicate effectively in English
- Computer literacy and ability to complete required electronic documentation
- U.S. citizenship or lawful permanent resident/Green Card status
- Manage an assigned group of patients under the direction and supervision of a Registered Nurse
- Assist patients with bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, mobility, repositioning, feeding, and other activities of daily living
- Measure and document vital signs, intake and output, weight, and other assigned patient information
- Observe patients and promptly report changes in condition, behavior, or safety concerns to the supervising nurse
- Assist with admissions, transfers, discharges, and preparation of patient rooms
- Support fall-prevention, infection-control, skin-integrity, and other patient-safety measures
- Transport patients, specimens, equipment, and supplies as assigned
- Maintain clean, safe, and properly stocked patient-care areas
- Preserve patient dignity, privacy, comfort, and confidentiality
- Collaborate with nurses, physicians, support personnel, and other members of the interdisciplinary team
- Follow NIH clinical procedures, safety requirements, and professional standards
- Float to another patient-care unit when needed and appropriately trained
Selected candidates will receive training in:
- Patient Care Technician competencies
- Crisis Prevention Training
- Unit-specific clinical procedures and safety requirements
Selected candidates must satisfy NIH onboarding, health, immunization, security, fingerprinting, background-investigation, and facility-access requirements. Certifications, competencies, and health documentation must remain current throughout the assignment.
