Axle is seeking a Biological Scientist to join our vibrant team at the National Institutes of Health (NIH) supporting the Clinical Center (CC) located in Bethesda, MD. The purpose of this position is to provide research support for new and ongoing projects in the lab that include development and characterization of novel fungal-specific PET imaging tracers.

• Program and use computers to store, process, and analyze data
• Monitor operational procedures in technical environments to ensure conformance to standards
• Record research or operational data
• Analyze laboratory findings
• Operate laboratory equipment to analyze samples
• Provide technical experience needed to assist in studying the basic principles of plant and animal life
• Conduct in vitro characterization of novel radioligands to be used as fungal specific PET tracers
• Develop and standardize mouse models of fungal infection
• Validate PET imaging data with a variety of assays
• Work independently on assigned research projects
• Assist with performing basic laboratory experiments and procedures
• Perform surgical procedures in mice to develop fungal infections
• Plan and conduct long‑term imaging experiments including animal monitoring, PET/CT/MRI imaging and tissue collection and processing
• Validate PET imaging results with different microscopic techniques
• Collect, record, analyze and present experimental data
• Prepare, organize and maintain various lab samples, supplies, and equipment
• Learnt new laboratory techniques and procedures
• Meet with lab members to present updates weekly
• Perform experiments, collect and analyze data daily
