HJF is seeking a Research Associate I to perform research and/or development in collaboration with other scientific and technical staff. Exercises technical discretion in the design, execution, and interpretation of experiments that contribute to project strategies. Performs limited analysis and interpretation of results.
This position will be in support of Dr. Vidya Kumar, researching Countermeasures at the Armed Forces Radiobiology Research Institute within the Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences in Bethesda, MD.

- Performs research projects, including the collection and organization of data. Follows instructions and standard operating procedures.

- Performs data entry in accurate, timely, and efficient manner. Maintains clear and accurate data collection records and inventories in accordance with Good Clinical and/or Good Laboratory practices.
- Maintains supplies in the laboratory and ensures proper cleanliness and sanitation in accordance with Good Clinical and/or Good Laboratory practices.
- Creates, collects, disseminates, and maintains appropriate study data.
- Assists in the preparation of technical reports, summaries, and protocols. Creates and communicates detailed observations on experiments. Documents current or new procedures or protocols for sample selection, data collection, data processing, and/or statistical estimation. Assists with the writing and editing of experimental results for publication in technical and peer-reviewed journals.
- Will perform animal welfare checks for lab animals (mice) and sample analysis.
- May perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned or directed by the supervisor. This may include attendance of and participation in required training for role.
- Master's Degree required.
- Minimum of 0-2 years' experience required.
Skills and Abilities
- Knowledge of standard laboratory techniques required. experience with ELISA, Luminex, and Flow Cytometry preferred.
- Must be willing to handle lab animals.
- Must have basic wet lab experience.
- Must have basic research presentation experience.
- Ability to follow detailed instructions.
- Good communication and analytical skills.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a T1/Public Trust Background Check.
- Lifting:
Requires lifting materials up to 10 lbs.
- This position will take place primarily in a laboratory setting.
- The annual salary range for this position is $52,800- $84,000. Actual salary will be determined based on experience, education, etc.
