The National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID), one of the largest institutes within the National Institutes of Health (NIH) and part of the Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS), conducts and supports basic and applied research to better understand, treat, and ultimately prevent infectious, immunologic, and allergic diseases.

The Division of Intramural Research is seeking applicants for a postdoctoral position in the Neuro-Immunopathogenesis Unit of the Laboratory of Clinical Immunology and Microbiology at NIAID, NIH. The successful applicant will join a translational research team focused on the immunopathogenesis of neuroinflammatory disorders, with a particular emphasis on understanding how immune dysregulation contributes to neurological disease.

The program emphasizes basic and translational research aimed at identifying the underlying mechanisms of neuroinflammatory disorders and developing targeted therapeutic approaches that may ultimately be translated into clinical care.

Qualifications

Highly motivated candidates with an M.D., Ph.D., or M.D./Ph.D. in immunology, neuroscience, neurobiology, neuroimmunology, or a related field, with a strong interest in studying interactions between the immune and nervous systems. Experience with immunological assays, iPSC-based models, and basic molecular biology techniques is desirable. Trainees will receive health insurance as well as a stipend commensurate with experience.

Appointees may be a U.S. citizen, Legal Permanent Resident, or non-U.S. citizen (visa requirements apply).
