Research Assistant I

Perform research and/or development in collaboration with others for projects. Provide laboratory and technical support to senior staff and solve less complex problems in a laboratory environment.

This position will be in support of Microbiology and Immunology at USUHS in the laboratory of Dr. Eric Laing.

• Perform research projects, collecting and organizing data following instructions and SOPs.
• Enter data accurately and maintain records in accordance with Good Clinical and/or Good Laboratory practices.
• Maintain laboratory supplies and ensure cleanliness and sanitation per Good Clinical and/or Good Laboratory practices.
• Collect, disseminate, and maintain study data.
• Assist in preparation of technical reports, summaries, and protocols, and communicate observations on experiments.
• Perform other duties as assigned or directed by the supervisor.

• Bachelor's degree.
• 0-2 years of experience.
• Knowledge of standard laboratory techniques.
• Ability to follow detailed instructions.
• Good communication and analytical skills.
• Knowledge and experience in BSL-2/ABSL-2 protocols.
• Knowledge of complex scientific procedures including flow cytometry, molecular biology, and biochemistry.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a T1 public background check.

• Lift materials up to 10 lbs.
• Stand or sit at a computer for prolonged periods.
• Climb, pull, and lift heavy objects.

This position will take place primarily in a laboratory setting.

The hourly pay range is $19.33-$21.00 per hour, based on experience and education.
