The National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID), one of the largest institutes in the National Institutes of Health (NIH), and part of the Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS), conducts and supports basic and applied research to better understand, treat, and ultimately prevent infectious, immunologic, and allergic diseases.
The Division of Intramural Research is seeking applicants for a postdoctoral position in the Immunopathogenesis Section of the Laboratory of Clinical Immunology and Microbiology, NIAID, NIH. The successful applicant will join a team investigating mycobacterial pathogenesis and host–pathogen interactions, with an emphasis on understanding how Mycobacterium abscessus evades host immune defenses and identifying strategies to enhance antimicrobial responses. The program integrates transcriptomic, metabolomic, bacterial genomic, and immunologic approaches to advance basic research with the potential for translation into clinical and diagnostic applications.
The research will be conducted under the mentorship of Drs. Steven M. Holland, an expert in primary immunodeficiencies and host defense against mycobacteria, and Adrian M. Zelazny, whose work focuses on mycobacterial diagnosis and virulence.
