The Natural Products Chemistry Section in the Laboratory of Bioorganic Chemistry, NIDDK, NIH, Bethesda, MD, is recruiting a highly motivated postdoctoral fellow to contribute to a multi-disciplinary research team.
About the positionResearch goals include natural products and antibiotic discovery, high-resolution structural and biochemical characterization of biosynthetic proteins and transcription factors, and rigorous structure elucidation of novel natural products. Additional projects in the lab include protein engineering and carbohydrate recognition.
The group brings together expertise in natural products discovery and chemistry; NMR, X-ray crystallography and structural biology; bioinformatics; and target identification. See a list of publications .
The fellow will be part of a vibrant research environment within the Intramural Research Program at the National Institutes of Health. The position is fully funded and is located on the main NIH campus in Bethesda, MD, in the greater Washington, DC, area.
Strong candidates with expertise in natural products chemistry, structure elucidation, modern NMR and mass spectrometry techniques, or X-ray crystallography are especially encouraged to apply.
Expertise in bioinformatics, molecular biology, and biochemical or biophysical techniques is also highly valued.
- A Ph.D. or M.D./Ph.D. degree awarded within the past 3 years
- A record of at least two first-author publications in peer-reviewed international journals.
Candidates must be fluent in written and spoken English.
