We are currently searching for a Research Scientist to provide support to the National Institutes of Health (NIH) for a short-term engagement through March 2027.

** What You Will Do**  **:*
* + Support laboratory research focused on scavenger receptors, high-density lipoprotein (HDL) binding, lipid metabolism, infection, inflammation, and atherosclerosis using animal models and related experimental systems.

+ Plan, design, execute, and analyze research experiments that advance laboratory methods, protocols, and scientific discovery.

+ Perform hands-on laboratory techniques, including cell culture, competition binding experiments, RNA/DNA extraction, reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR), radiotracer and fluorescent probe labeling, radioimmunoassay, enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA), fluorescent cellular uptake studies, and isolation of lipid particles and apolipoproteins.

+ Analyze, interpret, and manage scientific data; maintain electronic laboratory notebooks and experiment databases.

+ Prepare protocols, technical reports, abstracts, posters, manuscripts, presentations, and other scientific work products.

+ Present research findings in laboratory meetings, scientific meetings, and other professional forums.

+ Maintain, calibrate, and troubleshoot laboratory instruments and equipment; train staff on proper equipment use and research methods.

+ Manage reagents, frozen cell stocks, animal samples, supplies, and other laboratory resources; coordinate supply purchases and maintenance needs for Government approval.

+ Support laboratory readiness, organization, cleanliness, and compliance with established procedures.

+ Mentor junior scientists, fellows, technicians, and other laboratory staff in research techniques, instrumentation, data analysis, and protocol execution.

** What You Will Need**  **:*
* + Ph.D. degree with a minimum of eight (8) years of research experience

+ Demonstrated experience with cell culture techniques, DNA/RNA extraction, ELISA, and scavenger receptors required.

+ Experience translating scientific and clinical data into publications, presenting findings at scientific forums, and supporting training.

+ Must be able to obtain and maintain a Federal or DoD "public trust"; candidates must receive approved adjudication prior to onboarding with Guidehouse. Candidates with an active public trust or suitability are preferred.

+ Incumbent capture - no other candidates were considered due to an identified incumbent who meets the labor category requirements provided by the customer

** What Would Be Nice To Have**  **:*

Biology, Biological Science, or related scientific discipline.

+ Excellent analytical, organizational, and time management skills

+ Experience working in a clinical or federal research setting, preferred.

The annual salary range for this position is $-$.  Compensation decisions depend on a wide range of factors, including but not limited to skill sets, experience and training, security clearances, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs.
