Job DescriptionWhat You Will Do:
- Provide clinical operational oversight and consultation for microbiology testing.
- Participate in clinical call responsibilities.
- Oversee and develop appropriate diagnostic and therapeutic tests.
- Advise clinicians and NIH physician scientists on the significance of diagnostic procedures.
- Manage the financial and technical resources of the laboratory.
- Coordinate work with the technical supervisors of the specialty sections.
- Ensure that all specialty laboratory staff members and postdoctoral clinical microbiology fellows are appropriately trained.
- Mentor and teach NIH and visiting infectious diseases fellows and microbiology fellows.
- Contribute to the comprehensive laboratory safety policies of the laboratory.
- Initiate independent and collaborative research projects in clinical microbiology and/or infectious diseases.
- Analyze, evaluate, and interpret scientific and clinical data.
- Keep abreast of scientific and clinical developments.
What You Will Need:
- Ph.D. in Microbiology or a related field along with postdoctoral training.
- Minimum of two (2) years of medical microbiology or clinical pathology experience.
- Experience translating scientific and clinical data into peer-reviewed publications.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a Federal or DoD "public trust".
