Position Summary
The Public Safety Officer I is responsible for providing advanced security services to ensure the safety of patients, staff and visitors. This role involves mentoring junior officers, coordinating emergency responses, and implementing security protocols. The role plays a crucial role in maintaining a secure and safe environment within the healthcare facility. Ensures no one enters the hospital with any weapons or other unpermitted objects that would potentially cause a safety issue within your hospital.
EducationHigh School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED) required. Additional training or education in criminal justice, public safety or a related field is preferred.
Experience / RequirementsRequired licensure, certification, and ongoing training include:
- Valid driver's license and the ability to obtain and maintain required endorsements or certifications.
- No more than 5 points on MVR.
- No more than 8 driving infractions, violations, convictions or no more than 15 points from non‑valid license status on Samba risk assessment.
- Successful completion of post‑hire entry training course, e.g., CPR, Stop the Bleed, Narcan, de‑escalation. Must maintain certification.
- Certification in healthcare security (e.g., CHPA, CHSO) or other relevant security certifications desirable.
Both checks are completed separately and not meeting either requirement will result in disqualification from the pre‑boarding process.
Shift- Full‑Time (40 hours per week)
- Night Shift
- Weekend work required
- Non‑Exempt

Salary RangeMinimum 18.85/hour - Maximum 31.10/hour. Compensation will be commensurate with equity and experience for roles of similar scope and responsibility.
