The Armed Protection Specialist is responsible for ensuring the safety and security of synagogue members, staff, visitors, clergy, and property. This position requires a highly professional and vigilant security officer who can provide a welcoming presence while maintaining a proactive security posture. The Armed Protection Specialist will monitor activities, control access, identify potential threats, respond to emergencies, and help create a safe environment for worship services, religious education programs, community events, and daily operations.
Requirements
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Conduct armed security patrols of assigned properties and facilities.
- Monitor and protect client assets, personnel, and visitors.
- Maintain a visible presence to deter theft, vandalism, trespassing, and other criminal activities.
- Respond promptly and professionally to incidents, emergencies, and alarms.
- Investigate and document incidents, accidents, and suspicious activities.
- Enforce client policies, site procedures, and security protocols.
- Control access to facilities by verifying identification, credentials, and visitor authorization.
- Assist with emergency evacuations, medical emergencies, and crisis situations.
- Coordinate with local law enforcement, fire departments, and emergency responders when necessary.
- Maintain radio communication and remain alert throughout the assigned shift.
- Provide exceptional customer service and maintain professional interactions with clients, visitors, and employees.
- Safeguard confidential and sensitive information.
Minimum Qualifications
- Must be at least 21 years of age.
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- Active Maryland Security Guard Certification.
- Active Maryland Wear and Carry Permit.
- CPR, First Aid, and AED Certification (or ability to obtain within 30 days of hire).
- Ability to pass a background investigation and drug screening.
- Strong communication and report-writing skills.
- Prior armed security, military, law enforcement, or executive protection experience.
- Experience working in faith-based organizations, schools, community centers, or places of worship.
- Training in threat assessment, active shooter response, and emergency management.
- Familiarity with access control systems and surveillance equipment.
