Maryland Armed Security Officer

Garda World Security Services is hiring a Tactical Security Officer in Bethesda, MD. The position requires prior police or military police experience, an active armed MD Guard Card with a handgun permit, and the ability to read and respond to security risks.

• MUST HAVE TOMOHAWK OR JUDGEMENT USE OF FORCE COURSE TRAINING EXPERIENCE
• MUST HAVE TASER TRAINING
• Must have firearm proficiency of 90%
• Maintain a commanding presence to deter potential threats, including active shooters and workplace violence
• Trained to respond to active shooter situations, hostage scenarios, bomb threats, and similar incidents
• Serve as the initial point of contact for police, fire, and EMS during incidents
• Maintain excellent marksmanship and weapon handling skills; complete regular live‑fire training and tactical scenario drills
• Demonstrate proficiency in handgun operation, assembly, and disassembly
• Exhibit situational awareness, high integrity, physical fitness, and excellent communication
• Provide excellent customer service and remain warm yet vigilant when interacting with visitors, customers, and executives
• Survey the area, observe activity, and report findings at the assigned location
• Respond rapidly to critical situations and provide rapid response when needed
• Prepare detailed written reports on incidents
• Enforce customer procedures, regulations, and standards
• Patrol sensitive areas to detect suspicious activity
• Verify identities and control access to secure areas
• React quickly to threats or incidents
• Check the proper functioning of alarms and cameras
• Document incidents and actions taken
• Respond to alarms and conduct on‑site checks
• Ensure the safety and protection of individuals and property

• Minimum of 5 years of U.S. police officer experience or military specializing in military police or tactical units
• Ability to pass fitness and tactical training required for the site
• CPR, First Aid, and Stop the Bleed certifications
• Multitasking and quick synthesis of large amounts of information
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Active armed MD Guard Card with handgun permit and secondary weapon training, e.g., taser
• Pass an extensive background check, online armed assessments, gun range assessment, drug and physical assessments, and various other trainings
• Proficient in Microsoft Office
• Soft skills to manage diverse personalities
• Consistent uniform appearance
• Pass a physical fitness test (running, push‑ups, sit‑ups, step‑ups)
• Pass baseline trainings, yearly refreshers, and psychological exams

• High school education or equivalent (GED); college degree or transcript acceptable
• Pass extensive background screening and drug test
• At least 21 years of age or older as required by law or contract
