Position: Facilities Technician 2 - Electrical & HVAC - Montgomery Mall

Role

The Maintenance Technician II leads a team to provide a safe and well‑maintained store environment for Nordstrom customers and employees. This role supports the Facility Manager (FM) to ensure stores are ready for business daily and executes key themes such as HVAC, vertical transportation, restaurant, entry, signage, and building systems readiness, daily break‑fix and on‑demand requests, and communication with store leadership.

Responsibilities
  • Lead and perform on‑demand and planned preventive maintenance on all critical and non‑critical equipment.
  • Troubleshoot electrical and mechanical problems related to all store operations.
  • Operate and monitor building controls, building systems, and associated equipment.
  • Troubleshoot alarms and verify proper building operation.
  • Lead equipment and building rounds, identify, mitigate, and report malfunctions.
  • Perform manual labor tasks such as loading, unloading, lifting, and moving materials.
  • Assist with administrative tasks such as parts ordering, PO creation, vendor management, and attending job or project meetings.
  • Promote a safe working environment and act as a safety champion following LOTO, PPE, ergonomics, working at heights, and machine guarding procedures.
  • Represent the facilities business in lieu of the FM by attending store meetings and vendor/project meetings, documenting and sharing notes.
  • Complete preventive maintenance routines with proper documentation and mentor other technicians.
  • Assist the FM with technical training of new employees on equipment and building systems.
  • Respond to location emergencies.
  • Update the CMMS to maintain maintenance procedures and accurate equipment history; maintain adequate parts inventory.
  • Coordinate with outside contractors, vendors, and property managers/landlords.
  • Comply with all applicable codes, regulations, and company directives.
Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or GED;
    Associate’s or higher degree from a vocational school or college preferred.
  • 5–7 years of hands‑on facilities experience with an emphasis in mechanical maintenance.
  • 5+ years of experience conducting preventive and predictive maintenance procedures.
  • Strong HVAC, refrigeration, carpentry, plumbing, electrical, and mechanical skills for facilities and equipment repairs.
  • Ability to troubleshoot basic input/output functions, low‑voltage signal tracing, and logical devices.
  • Can work without supervision and meet multiple deadlines.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication at all organizational levels.
  • Highly self‑motivated and dedicated to a safe, customer‑focused environment.
  • Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Office programs.
  • Experience with CMMS and order system (Coupa).
  • Knowledge of computer networking systems and infrastructure.
  • Experience with electromechanical operation and maintenance.
  • Project management experience a plus.
  • Flexible schedule availability: days, evenings, weekends, and off‑hours as required.
Physical Requirements

Stooping, standing, walking, climbing stairs or ladders, and ability to lift or carry heavy loads of 50 lbs. or more, with or without reasonable accommodation.

Pay Range

$23.75 – $41.25 hourly, dependent on location, knowledge, skills, and experience.
