description

the general maintenance worker is responsible for performing routine maintenance and repair tasks across buildings, equipment, and facility systems. This role requires basic practical skills and a working knowledge of multiple trades, including hvac, plumbing, and electrical systems. The position supports higher-level trades personnel and ensures facilities remain safe, functional, and well-maintained.

• perform general maintenance and minor repairs on building systems, equipment, and infrastructure
• replace and repair components such as light fixtures, switches, receptacles, belts, and small motors
• conduct minor patching and repair of walls and ceilings, including painting and surface touch-ups
• repair or replace plumbing fixtures including sinks, toilets, water coolers, and lavatory components (washers, seats, etc.)
• install and replace carpet tiles and perform basic flooring repairs
• perform preventative maintenance tasks such as filter changes and general cleaning of equipment and work areas
• assist with mechanical and maintenance work, including the use of hand tools and basic equipment
• support laborer functions such as moving materials and maintaining clean and organized work spaces
• assist higher-level trades personnel with maintenance and repair tasks as needed
• follow safety procedures, policies, and regulatory requirements at all times
• perform other related maintenance duties as assigned by management
• this position is not a journeyman-level role and does not independently lead or manage jobs
• work is performed under the direction of supervisors or skilled trades personnel
• additional duties may be assigned based on operational needs

• high school diploma or equivalent preferred
• 1–3 years of general maintenance or facilities experience preferred

• basic knowledge of hvac, plumbing, and electrical systems
• ability to use hand tools and basic maintenance equipment safely and effectively
• strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
• ability to follow instructions and work under supervision
• good communication and teamwork skills

• ability to lift, carry, and move materials (up to 50 lbs or more as required)
• frequent standing, walking, bending, and climbing
• may work in mechanical rooms, rooftops, and confined spaces
• exposure to varying temperatures and environmental conditions
• use of personal protective equipment (ppe) as required
