Equipment Operator

• Operate excavators, dozers, and loaders for heavy highway, bridge, and utility projects in the Northern Virginia/Washington, D.C. area
• Check all fluids before starting the engine
• Work on pipe and utility crews as needed
• Work on heavy highway and bridge projects by moving or placing materials
• Receive written or oral instructions from the supervisor
• Perform routine maintenance, including lubricating, fueling, and cleaning equipment
• Operate equipment in a safe and responsible manner
• Assist crews and perform other duties when operator work is unavailable
• Work in construction-site environments with moving mechanical parts, weather conditions, fumes, airborne particles, vibration, chemicals, electrical hazards, and loud noise

• Prior experience in the Equipment Operator position required
• Experience commensurate with project requirements
• Minimum five years related experience and/or training
• Certified or approved by Safety Department or Competent person
• Must pass practical test
• Ability to safely climb in and out of equipment
• Ability to operate equipment using both hands, arms, legs, foot controls, and pedals
• Ability to occasionally lift and/or move up to 40 pounds
• Required close, distance, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus
• Ability to work safely inside a trench box
• Ability to understand ground markings, hand signals, and grade stakes

Demonstrates expertise in operating heavy equipment such as Excavators, Dozers, and Loaders for construction projects, ensuring safety and compliance with operational standards. Proficient in performing routine maintenance and adhering to safety protocols in challenging construction environments.
