OverviewBlack Canyon Consulting (BCC) is searching for a Mid‑Level Software Developer with C++ and JavaScript to support the National Center for Biotechnology Information (NCBI). This is a full‑time onsite role at the NCBI in Bethesda, MD. The NCBI Taxonomy covers information on the names of nearly half a million species across all domains of life and plays an essential role in organizing information across NCBI resources and its international partners.
The Software Developer will work on solutions to support continued development of associated resources at NCBI.
- Participate in the development, implementation, testing, and continued maintenance of the NCBI Taxonomy Information System.
- Work with a diverse group of scientists, bioinformaticians, and other developers to support and improve the Taxonomy project.
- Learn new technologies, keep up with internal systems, and share knowledge with the team.
- Proficiency in C++ and JavaScript.
- Experience working in a distributed computing environment.
- Programming experience in a Linux environment.
- Experience with relational databases, Microsoft SQL or similar.
- Experience with Linux shell scripts.
- BS in Computer Science.
- 3 years+ of relevant work experience.
- Proficiency in C++ and JavaScript.
