SummaryPotomac is continuing to invest in modern data and AI capabilities to support our growing business. We are seeking a Full Stack Developer with 3–4 years of fintech experience who enjoys building data‑driven products that combine financial analytics with intuitive software design. This is a contract‑to‑hire opportunity for a skilled Developer — strong performers will be considered for a full‑time position.
You will work on the Guardrails platform, which allows advisors to design portfolios using risk analytics such as beta, correlation, diversification, and drawdown analysis
. This role requires strong engineering skills along with a working understanding of how portfolio analytics function in real‑world financial applications.
This is a hands‑on development role working closely with Operations, Technology, Analytics, and business stakeholders. This is a 100% in‑office role in Bethesda, MD
.
- Design, build, and maintain full stack features for a fintech portfolio analytics platform
- Develop and support backend services and APIs powering portfolio modeling and analytics
- Build modern front‑end interfaces for portfolio construction, analytics visualization, and advisor proposal workflows
- Integrate market data, fund data, and strategist models into application workflows
- Optimize performance for large portfolio simulations and analytics calculations
- Collaborate with investment strategists and product managers to translate financial concepts into scalable software solutions
- Maintain high‑quality, well‑tested code and contribute to platform architecture as the system evolves
- 3–4 years of fintech development experience
- Strong skills in both front‑end and back‑end development, preferably with modern JavaScript frameworks and backend languages (e.g., Node.js, Python, Java)
- Experience building or contributing to portfolio analytics or financial data processing systems
- Proficiency in API design, data integration, and performance optimization
- Strong collaboration skills with cross‑functional teams (investment strategists, product managers)
- Commitment to writing testable, maintainable code and participating in architecture discussions
- Experience building portfolio analytics, trading, or wealth‑management platforms
- Familiarity with quantitative finance or portfolio construction
- Experience with financial data visualization or analytics tools
- Experience building tools used by financial advisors, RIAs, or investment firms
Contract‑to‑hire: Initial 3‑month contract with the potential to convert to full‑time employment.
