Backend Developer, Full Stack Developer, AI Engineer (Applied/Software)
About the Role
The AI Product Engineer will be the first engineering hire on a new product initiative. You will be responsible for product collaboration, architecture planning, and product development and rollout. You’ll decide what to build, in what order, and to what standard. You will work closely with the leadership team to develop the product roadmap and determine prioritization.
You won’t be starting from a blank page. You’ll inherit a working platform that is in daily use today, built by the founding team. Your job is to own it, harden it, and take it much further.
This is a role for an engineer who wants the scope of a founding engineer: full technical ownership, direct contact with users, and a straight line between what you ship and whether the business works.
What You'll Own- End-to-end architecture, development, testing, deployment, and production operations.
- Maturing a founder-built, AI-generated codebase into production-grade software through testing, CI/CD, observability, security, and reliability improvements.
- Building integrations with third-party systems, including messaging, payments, and healthcare-specific APIs.
- Developing AI-powered product features using modern LLMs, including prompt engineering, structured outputs, evaluations, and model selection.
- Maintaining HIPAA compliance and ensuring the security of software handling patient data.
- Working directly with users to understand workflows and translate customer feedback into product improvements.
We are an AI-first engineering organization. We believe modern AI tools allow exceptional engineers to accomplish what previously required an entire team.
QualificationsRequired
- 4+ years of professional software engineering experience with production ownership.
- Experience developing products or major features from concept through deployment.
- Daily experience using AI coding agents as part of software development.
- Strong product judgment and the ability to turn business goals into shipped features.
- Excellent communication skills with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Authorization to work in the United States.
Preferred
- Experience in healthcare technology or HIPAA-regulated environments.
- Experience building LLM-powered products, including prompt engineering, evaluations, structured outputs, or agentic workflows.
- Experience integrating production-scale third-party APIs such as payments, messaging, or EHR systems.
We don’t require a specific technology stack or a computer science degree. We’re looking for someone with a track record of building great products, learning quickly, and operating with a high degree of autonomy.
Who Will Thrive HereThis role is ideal for engineers who want the ownership and impact of a founding engineer. You'll have the opportunity to shape both the product and the engineering function while working directly with leadership and customers.
If you're excited about building AI-powered software, moving quickly, and owning outcomes rather than tickets, we'd love to hear from you.
