Motor Vehicle Operator

About the Position:

This position is located within the Department of Logistics, Supply Chain at the Walter Reed National Military Medical Center in Bethesda, MD. The position involves providing transportation and service to Medical Treatment Facility (MTF) and all tenant commands. The applicant will operate automotive vehicles of all types and sizes in support of the mission. This is a Direct Hire Solicitation

There is no specific length of training or experience required. However, you must be able to demonstrate, through experience shown in your written application materials that you possess the sufficient knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the work of this position without more than normal supervision.

Ability to do the work of a(n) Motor Vehicle Operator ~ without more than normal supervision.

I am skilled at operating gasoline driven trucks or truck tractors with trailer; ensuring cargo is properly located, distributed, and secured on vehicles; keeping accurate records/logs; and performing driver maintenance in accordance with established rules and regulations.

• Failure to meet this Screen out Element will result in an ineligible rating.

The incumbent must not be restricted by physical handicaps or any medical reason for not being able to obtain or keep a CDL, with the required endorsements. Will occasionally lift and carry items that weigh in excess of 50 pounds.

Incumbent is exposed to inclement weather, and required to drive under adverse conditions. May be required to work pushing snow during emergency conditions. Drives in heavy traffic and at highway speeds over complicated roads and interchange systems. Works mostly outside, and operates vehicles in all kinds of weather in a controlled traffic environment throughout a Government installation or establishment. Will be exposed to dirt and fumes, and to the possibility of cuts and bruises.

Incumbent will be required to work rotating shifts, as well as, weekends and holidays.
