Graduate Assistant - CLAS Dean's OfficeThe Graduate Assistant position works in the dean's office to manage all front-desk operations and provide support for the administrative functions of the assistant and associate deans of the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences. Major tasks include researching comparative tasks overseen by assistant/associate deans at peer institutions, various benchmarking analyses, attending and assisting in the scheduling of committee meetings, and managing event calendars of interdisciplinary programs.
The position will also support the office by providing front-desk coverage for the office while also overseeing the scheduling of the front desk, which includes the creation of the schedule and tracking the hours of the undergraduate student workers. This position offers the opportunity for the graduate student to gain practical experience in the daily functions of a dean's office.
- Participate in front-desk coverage for the CLAS dean's office: answering phone calls, emails, and walk-in inquiries; alerting assistant/associate deans of visitors for meetings (via Microsoft Teams); create and oversee the front-desk work schedule for undergraduate student workers
- Assist in scheduling CLAS committee and subcommittee meetings and, where possible, attend meetings to take minutes
- Research academic integrity policies and procedures at peer institutions to consider possible amendments to current CLAS academic integrity education program components
- Perform research tasks associated with Collaborative Online International Learning (COIL) and virtual exchanges with universities abroad looking for funding opportunities and grants for virtual exchanges and COILs, as well as trainings for faculty
- Assist in benchmarking project on globalization and internationalization for our peer institutions, i.e. knowing what kind of infrastructure they have as well as what kinds of programming is provided for international experiences
- Research data to compare global efforts in strategic plans for global programs and how institutions are assessing cultural agility
- Provide support to the assistant dean regarding syllabus archive reviews, outcomes assessment and program evaluations, and curriculum benchmarking.
- Work with assistant/associate deans in supporting new project roll-outs tasks may include helping to craft printed/web announcements of new programs, maintaining details for newsletter, creating and updating relevant web content of new programs, etc.
- Oversee the process of creating a One Stop "Who does what" flow chart of dean's office functions and who to go to for what
- Build/maintain staff org charts for all CLAS departments/programs
- Connect with the Office for Undergraduate Students by attending weekly update meetings; work with OUS teams for shadowing opportunities of student advising appointments
- Support dean's office staff with general operational support as needed
- Eligibility
:
Must be admitted to a graduate degree program in the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences as a full-time student. - Preferred qualifications
:
Prefer candidates with an interest in Education (higher education administration), Public Administration, Human Resource Development, or Communication. The individual should be a superior communicator and collaborator and dedicated to seeing tasks completed from start to finish.
$21,033 per academic year, $1,107 biweekly rate
