Position: Clerical Assistant 2 - Delaware County Assistance Office

Role Overview

Join the Department of Human Services as a Clerical Assistant 2 and step into a role that keeps important services running smoothly for local residents. Responsibilities
  • Application Processing: Access CIS menus to complete file clearances, register applications, and update grant activities.
  • Case Initiation: Enter client information from applications into the system to prepare cases for Income Maintenance staff.
  • Clerical Transactions: Input and maintain demographic and case data, process transaction requests, and reconcile case information.
  • Reapplication Support: Prepare and issue recertification notices, schedule appointments, and handle related forms and data.
  • IEVS Actions: Retrieve, print, and route IEVS information, record disposition codes, and enter case narratives.
  • Customer Service: Greet visitors and/or respond to phone calls/voicemails to determine their needs and provide appropriate information or referral.
Compensation and Benefits

Salary:
Selected candidates who are new to employment within the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania will begin employment at the starting salary of $36,108 (before taxes).

Work Schedule and Additional Information
  • Full‑time employment, 37.5 hours per week.
  • Work hours are 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM, Monday‑through‑Friday with a 1‑hour lunch.
  • Travel and overtime as needed.
  • Assigned duties are performed in a controlled office environment; reassignments may occur in compliance with contract language.
  • This position may be eligible for part‑time telework with a securely configured high‑speed internet connection and an approved location inside Pennsylvania. Telework arrangements are subject to change and will be discussed during the interview process.
Qualifications
  • Six months as a Clerical Assistant 1 (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title) or an equivalent combination of experience and training.
  • Graduation from high school or an equivalent combination of experience and training.
Other Requirements
  • You must meet Pennsylvania residency requirements. For more information, refer to the Residency Guidelines.
  • Hiring preference will be given to candidates who live within Delaware County; candidates from other counties may be considered if no eligible Delaware County residents apply.
  • You must be able to perform essential job functions.
Legal Requirements
  • A conditional offer of employment will require submission of criminal history reports.
  • You must pass a background investigation.
