THE POSITION The Department of Corrections is seeking an organized, positive individual to provide clerical support within SCI Mahanoy Deputy’s Complex. This role is ideal for someone who is dedicated, detail oriented, and has a strong interest in clerical work. DESCRIPTIONOF WORK
Responsibilities: As a Clerical Assistant 2, you will provide clerical and office support to your assigned institution. Responsibilities include operating the institutional switchboard, answering, making, and directing all phone calls, recording and distributing messages, maintaining accurate filing systems, managing end‑of‑year archiving in accordance with retention of records policy, and updating databases, reports, spreadsheets, and queries as required.
Work Schedule and Additional Information- Full‑time employment, 37.5 hours per week.
- Work hours are 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., Monday‑Friday, with a 30‑minute lunch.

Selected candidates new to employment in Pennsylvania will begin at the starting annual salary of $36,108 (before taxes).
Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
- Six months as a Clerical Assistant 1 (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration); or
- Graduation from high school; or
- An equivalent combination of experience and training.
Additional Requirements:
- Successful completion of basic training in Elizabethtown, PA is required.
- Must be able to efficiently use and navigate a personal computer.
- Must have two (2) years or more of experience with Microsoft systems (Word/Excel/Outlook, etc.) and other software packages to create and maintain spreadsheets, calendars, documents, rosters, etc.
- Must be able to work with various office equipment such as scanner, printer, fax machine, computer, tablet, telephone, and personal communication devices.
- Must have previous experience working in an office setting as a clerk and/or personal assistant.
- Must be able to use electronic communication tools/skills, such as video conferencing and creating meetings in Microsoft Teams or Zoom.
- Must be proficient in keyboarding skills.
- You must be able to perform essential job functions.
Preferred Qualifications (not required):
- Able to stand and operate document scanning machines.
- Previous experience using Microsoft Dynamics.
Legal Requirements:
- Must pass a background investigation and meet Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) compliance requirements.
