The Director of Portfolio Strategy for Pfizer’s Inflammation & Immunology (I&I) Early Commercial Business is an individual‑contributor role that shapes portfolio strategy and early commercial assessments across the I&I pipeline. Reporting to the Portfolio Strategy & Disease Area Lead, the Director leads strategic planning, trade‑off decisions, and AI‑enabled analytics to support long‑range portfolio thinking and business‑case development for high‑value pipeline opportunities.
Responsibilities- Develop long‑range commercial and portfolio strategy for the I&I Early Commercial Business, covering pipeline assets, lifecycle opportunities, and emerging disease areas.
- Synthesize scientific, clinical, commercial, access, competitive, and patient insights to inform portfolio priorities and trade‑offs.
- Assess near‑, mid‑, and long‑term opportunities to identify differentiated value creation for Pfizer’s I&I portfolio.
- Translate portfolio strategy into clear recommendations, implications, and decision materials for leadership and governance meetings.
- Monitor shifts in the I&I scientific and competitive landscape to identify emerging trends, risks, and development opportunities.
- Develop and refine early commercial assessments, product concepts, target product profiles, positioning hypotheses, market archetypes, and commercial opportunity assessments.
- Provide commercial input to clinical development, evidence generation, lifecycle, and indication sequencing discussions in partnership with cross‑functional colleagues.
- Help identify key value drivers, risks, uncertainties, and evidence needs that may influence future launch potential and portfolio value.
- Support commercial assessments of external innovation and Business Development opportunities relevant to the I&I portfolio.
- Contribute to opportunity assessments, valuation inputs, market‑sizing assumptions, competitive scenarios, and strategic fit evaluations.
- Partner with Business Development, R&D, Business Analytics & Insights, GASP, and Competitive Intelligence to pressure‑test assumptions and identify decision points.
- Develop executive‑ready materials communicating commercial opportunity, strategic rationale, risks, and portfolio implications.
- Partner with cross‑functional stakeholders to embed a commercial voice in early development and portfolio decisions and support preparation for governance and strategy meetings.
- Build trusted relationships across R&D, Medical Affairs, GA SP, BAI, Competitive Intelligence, Business Development, and Commercial Regions.
- Influence stakeholders without direct authority by aligning on insights, strategic choices, and portfolio implications.
- Use AI‑enabled tools to support scientific and competitive landscape synthesis, market insight generation, scenario development, and strategy efficiency.
- Apply AI‑augmented approaches to accelerate analysis, identify patterns across complex data sources, and improve outcome quality and consistency.
- Embed responsible, compliant AI‑enabled practices into early commercial strategy, portfolio assessment, and decision‑support processes.
- Stay current on emerging tools and practices that strengthen commercial strategy development and portfolio decision‑making.
- Bachelor’s degree with ≥8 years of experience OR master’s degree with ≥7 years OR PhD with ≥5 years of experience.
- Experience in pharmaceutical, biotechnology, life sciences, strategy consulting, corporate strategy, or related fields.
- Strong strategic and analytical skills with the ability to synthesize complex scientific, clinical, market, access, and competitive information into clear recommendations.
- Experience supporting portfolio strategy, early commercial assessment, business‑case development, opportunity assessment, or cross‑functional strategic planning.
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities and deliver high‑quality work in a matrixed environment.
- Strong communication, organization, problem‑solving, and stakeholder‑management skills.
