Construction Projects Technician ; Civil

Responsibilities

Perform tests and inspections of construction materials and the civil, electrical, or mechanical phases of public works projects to ensure contractor and manufacturer compliance with contracts, plans, specifications, and current quality standards.

Interpret construction, contract, and permit requirements and inform contractors and superiors of any non‑conformities or violations.

Work under the supervision of a technical superior.

• Educational requirements:
  
  completion of a two‑year college degree in building construction technology, engineering technology, civil, mechanical, metallurgical or materials engineering, or architectural design; or completion of a vocational program in building construction technology.
• Alternatively, possession of the City of Philadelphia Construction Management Certificate and at least one year of full‑performance level experience in engineering aide work or technical street and highway construction and repair inspection work.
• Alternatively, completion of the twelfth school grade with at least two years of technical experience in inspection of street and highway construction and repair projects, or in water, sewer, or storm water infrastructure maintenance, or commercial building construction.
• Valid Pennsylvania motor vehicle operator’s license if required.
• Ability to physically perform the duties and work in the environmental conditions required.
