Practice Overview:
Anesthesia Specialists of Bethlehem is a physician-led private practice with over 30 years of excellence in anesthesia care. Our team comprises 63 physicians and 105 CRNAs, providing services across 10 inpatient campuses and 3 ambulatory surgery centers within the rapidly expanding St. Lukes University Health Network.
Clinical Scope:
Level I Trauma Center es Bethlehem campus
Level II Trauma Center and Mother and Baby Pavilion es Anderson campus (3,500 deliveries/year)
Diverse case mix: orthopedics, thoracic, neurosurgery, interventional radiology, urology, gynecology, ENT, vascular, general surgery
Dedicated teams for cardiac, pediatric, and critical care anesthesia
Active involvement in Perioperative Surgical Home model, acute pain service, surgical optimization clinic, and ERAS protocols
Acute Pain Service:
Our acute pain team includes anesthesiologists, internists, nurse practitioners, and physician assistants specializing in addiction medicine and pain management. We focus on interventional pain procedures such as thoracic/lumbar epidurals, peripheral nerve blocks, and catheters, utilizing medications like Exparel and participating in trials/studies in regional anesthesia. Our multimodal non-narcotic pain regimen includes adjuncts such as ketamine, magnesium, lidocaine, and methadone.
Call Schedule:
First Call: Every 14 days; weekdays 3-4 PM to 7 AM, weekends 24-hour shifts
Second Call: Every 14 days; regular workday followed by backup duties
Post-call day off provided after both first and second calls
Voluntary calls at smaller campuses available for additional compensation
- Call is evenly split between Bethlehem and Anderson (1:8)
Candidate Requirements:
Board-certified or board-eligible anesthesiologist
Strong regional anesthesia skills
Fellowship training in regional or pain anesthesiology is a plus
