POSITION
Located in Honesdale, PA, Wayne County Drug & Alcohol is seeking a part‑time Prevention Specialist Trainee. This role involves supporting drug and alcohol prevention programs for schools and communities.
DESCRIPTION OF WORKIn this position you will gain hands‑on experience and work closely with senior Prevention and Intervention staff.
Responsibilities include:
- Assist with implementing prevention and intervention programs for schools and communities under the supervision of senior staff.
- Plan and deliver educational programs, training sessions, and presentations for schools, parents, and community groups.
- Maintain prevention records and enter program data into the state prevention management system.
- Evaluate programs, prepare educational materials, and conduct needs assessments.
- After required training, serve as a liaison for Student Assistance Program (SAP) meetings and provide school‑based intervention support.
- Complete all required Department of Drug and Alcohol Programs (DDAP) trainings and maintain prevention‑related training credits.
- Seasonal, part‑time; work primarily during the school year, occasionally at other times as needed.
- Work hours:
8:00 AM–4:30 PM, Monday–Friday, with a 30‑minute lunch. Start time and hours may vary with school schedule and can include evenings. - Optional overnight or out‑of‑county travel for meetings or training.
- Telework not available.
- Salary: starting salary may be non‑negotiable.
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of experience and training.
- Applicants will be considered to have met the educational requirements within three months of graduating with a qualifying degree.
- Must meet Pennsylvania residency requirement.
- Must be able to perform essential job functions.
- Must pass a background investigation.
- Conditional offer requires drug screening.
- Position falls under the provisions of the Child Protective Services Law.
- Completion of satisfactory criminal history reports, including PA State Police clearance, PA Child Abuse history clearance, and FBI fingerprint clearance, is required.
