A vacancy exists for a Vision Support Teacher to work within the Office of Student Services at the Montgomery County Intermediate Unit. This position is an itinerant role that will provide services to children in School Age programs throughout Montgomery County.

• A valid PA certification in Teacher of the Visually Impaired (TVI); additional certification in Orientation & Mobility (O&M) preferred.
• Prefer Unified English Braille trained (UEB).
• Experience with students with vision support needs.
• Current child abuse, PA Criminal, and FBI Fingerprint clearance (dated within one year of hire).
• Valid driver’s license; this position requires travel throughout Montgomery County, PA.

• Conduct Functional Vision Evaluations, Learning Media Assessments, and ECC Assessment to determine eligibility for vision services.
• Develop a plan for delivering high‑quality, evidence‑based instruction and support for children in a variety of environments including general and special education classrooms, specialized schools, community settings, and homes.
• Maintain knowledge of Braille, low‑vision aids, and adaptive technology skills.
• Ensure the student has all educational materials in the appropriate media.
• Collaborate closely with students, parents, teachers, administrators, and support staff to ensure understanding of visual impairment implications and necessary accommodations, ensuring optimal access to instruction and social interactions.

This position will service school‑age programs located throughout Montgomery County. The Montgomery County Intermediate Unit is located in Norristown, PA and provides services to students in School‑Age Special Education and Non‑Pub classrooms throughout the county.

Monday‑Friday, 7.5 hours/day, 10 months (194 days/year).

• Bachelor’s, Step 1: $53,997/year
• Master’s, Step 1: $65,007/year

* Placement on salary schedule based on experience and/or education beyond the Master’s Degree.
