Position Overview
This position involves specialized library work in the City of Philadelphia municipal library system. Responsibilities include materials selection, staff training, community relations, program development, program evaluation and related services. Employees advise and assist librarians in various program areas and facilities to carry out municipal library services under the direction of a higher level supervisor.
Responsibilities• Provide specialized library services including materials selection and evaluation.
• Conduct staff training sessions for library personnel.
• Serve as a liaison between library staff and external organizations to promote library services.
• Develop and evaluate community and programming initiatives.
QualificationsMinimum Education
: A fifth-year degree from an accredited school of library science.
Experience
:
Equivalency for education and experience may be considered at the Office of Human Resources' discretion.
Physical & Medical RequirementsAbility to perform the physical tasks required for the position and work in the environmental conditions necessary for a librarian in the municipal system.
Licenses & CertificationsValid Pennsylvania driver’s license or other required credentials applicable to the library position.
