The Transportation Construction Inspector Supervisor – Bridge Inspection role with the Department of Transportation gives you the chance to protect the safety of communities across Pennsylvania. You will lead a skilled inspection team and keep critical structures reliable for daily travel, supporting safe roads and strong communities while building your expertise in bridge safety standards.
Description of Work- Field Inspections:
Conduct inspections of bridge structures and evaluate conditions of components such as beams, decks, bearings, and supports. - Team Leadership:
Guide and support inspection staff, assign tasks, and review completed work for accuracy. - Record Management:
Maintain inspection documents, forms, photographs, and system data to ensure accurate reporting. - Safety Coordination:
Work with internal and external partners to safely access bridges and follow safety procedures. - Equipment Oversight:
Manage inspection equipment, ensure proper maintenance, and identify needs for replacements or upgrades.

Work Schedule and Additional Information- Full-time employment.
- Work hours are 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM, Monday – Friday, with a 30‑minute lunch.
- Telework:
You will not have the option to telework in this position. - Salary:
Selected candidates who are new to employment with the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania will begin employment at the starting annual salary of $53,008 (before taxes). - You will receive further communication regarding this position via email. - One year as a Transportation Construction Inspector (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration).
- Two years of construction inspection experience and an associate’s degree in civil engineering, mechanical engineering, geotechnical engineering, surveying engineering technology, or a closely related engineering technology.
- An equivalent combination of experience and training.
- This position is required to meet the qualifications for a bridge inspection team leader as defined by the current National Bridge Inspection Standards.
- This position requires possession of a valid non‑commercial Pennsylvania Class C Driver’s License or equivalent.
- You must meet the PA residency requirement.
- You must be able to perform essential job functions.
