First Quality is seeking an IT Solution Engineer – Production Planning to work remotely. The Production Planning Solution Engineer will be a key member of the in‑house Build team, focusing on continuous and discrete production planning processes in the CPG industry.
Responsibilities- Collaborate with business stakeholders, solution architects, and other SAP configuration specialists to gather, analyze, and document requirements, and implement approved designs.
- Coordinate proactively with colleagues to understand business processes, system integrations, and dependencies to complete assigned tasks efficiently.
- Manage small projects and enhancements within the Production Planning domain, ensuring timely delivery and quality outcomes.
- Perform hands‑on SAP ECC configuration with strong expertise in PP, SC, and inventory management.
- Utilize deep knowledge of the SAP data model and related master and transactional data tables/fields.
- Work with IDOCs, user exits, BAPIs, and function modules.
- Understand PP organization structures and their relationship to business structures, master data, and integration into MM, SD, QM, PM.
- Be well‑versed in MRP & scheduling logic and planning tools such as APO/IBP or S/4 HANA.
- Support solution architects in evaluating options, brainstorming design approaches, and implementing best‑fit solutions.
- Adapt systems and configurations to evolving business processes and requirements.
- Assist in developing an SAP S/4
HANA migration roadmap and participate in downstream implementation activities. - Provide end‑user training and develop comprehensive training materials.
- Conduct unit, integration, and user acceptance testing for PP‑related configurations and developments.
- Maintain detailed configuration documentation, functional specifications, and process flows for audit and knowledge transfer.
- Identify opportunities to optimize PP processes, reduce manual effort, and improve system performance.
- Stay current with SAP ECC and S/4 HANA PP innovations, best practices, and industry trends.
- Participate in cross‑functional projects as a subject matter expert for PP.
- Collaborate with external vendors, consultants, and integration partners to deliver solutions involving third‑party systems.
- Assist in change impact analysis, communication planning, and stakeholder engagement for PP‑related initiatives.
- 12+ years of IT experience supporting business processes in Production Planning.
- 10+ years of engineering experience building solutions under high‑level and architectural designs.
- 2+ years of solution architecture experience, contributing to enterprise‑level designs.
- Extensive hands‑on SAP ECC configuration experience in the PP domain (master data management, integration with MM, IM, WM, SD, QM, PM, FICO, APO, MES).
- Knowledge of Bill of Materials, Work Centers, Routing, and Production Orders.
- Relevant SAP PP certifications a plus.
- Deep understanding of MRP, capacity planning, and shop‑floor control.
- Experience with SAP S/4 HANA a plus.
- Ability to perform system testing, troubleshoot issues, and implement enhancements.
- Basic ABAP debugging skills (optional).
- Strong expertise with SAP tables, fields, custom fields, pricing procedures, BAPIs, and function modules.
- Proven experience integrating SAP PP processes with other SAP modules and non‑SAP applications.
- Familiarity with S/4 HANA migration concepts and roadmap planning.
- Project management experience or exposure, managing small to medium work streams.
- Consumer Packaged Goods manufacturing industry experience preferred.
- Business process design experience focusing on optimizing PP and execution workflows.
- Strong interpersonal skills to build relationships internally and externally.
- Strategic mindset aligning technology solutions to business objectives.
- Strong change management and communication skills.
- Ability to thrive in dynamic, entrepreneurial environments with ambiguity.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, flow‑charting and modeling tools.
- Experience with SAP ASAP methodology, Agile a plus.
- Ability to prepare high‑level conceptual, system, and low‑level designs and professional documentation.
