Superintendent - Mechanical Maintenance

Susquehanna Steam Electric Station, located near Berwick, Pennsylvania, seeks a Mechanical Maintenance Superintendent to lead the Mechanical Maintenance Group at this dual‑unit Boiling Water Reactor facility.

• Accountable for all work activities within the Mechanical Maintenance Group, ensuring cost‑effective operations without compromising safety and meeting Technical Specifications, Quality Assurance Procedures, and NRC licenses.

  Engage in planning and scheduling, select cost‑effective work strategies, maintain high productivity, and participate in training program requirements and assessments.

• Responsible for long‑range work planning and organizational decisions for the Mechanical Maintenance section, including organizational changes, labor agreement interpretations, plant modifications, and internal progression line promotions.

• Manage and control production and outage efforts, assigning responsibilities to functional area supervisors and ensuring the complement of production line forces and major support disciplines achieve task objectives.

• Oversee the overall administration and control of the plant Mechanical Maintenance section, including surveillance, preventative, predictive, planned, and corrective maintenance for plant structures, systems, and components.

  Initiate and implement assigned modifications, procure materials and services, and develop maintenance section instructions and procedures while ensuring safety compliance.

• Establish goals, train and develop subordinates, provide technical and managerial expertise, conduct performance reviews, and offer career guidance aligned with competency standards.

• Support and perform Nuclear Emergency Response Organization and Maintenance duties and responsibilities as qualified and assigned.

• Must live within a 55‑minute response time of the station.

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Seven years of responsible nuclear power plant experience or applicable industrial experience, with at least one year in a nuclear power plant.
• Extensive knowledge of all maintenance programs, job requirements, procedures, work activities, and plant systems.
• Thorough knowledge of labor agreements and administrative requirements.
• Thorough knowledge of all planning/scheduling requirements, information management systems, and man‑hour estimating programs.

• Bachelor of Science in Engineering.
• Comprehensive understanding of power plant operations, system interactions, and impacts.
• Familiarity with Susquehanna Technical Specifications and Requirements.
• Competent understanding of existing company policies and station procedures.
• Experience with union relations.
• Strong communication skills.
• Demonstrated leadership skills.
• In-depth knowledge of Susquehanna training and certification programs.
• Familiarity with the Susquehanna Work Management Process.
