Systems Administrator

POSITION SUMMARY

Responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining the Authority’s server, network, and storage infrastructures.

• Analyze server, storage, and network performance and recommend improvements.
• Resolve complex system issues for infrastructure including servers, networks, storage, and field devices.
• Analyze and modify preventive maintenance checklists for system changes.
• Troubleshoot system performance issues and implement corrective actions.
• Perform preventive maintenance actions including system back‑ups and updates.
• Perform server and workstation system set‑up and security updates.
• Delivery of new servers and storage and configure new network equipment to include switches, routers, printers, etc.
• Manage the detection, response, mitigation, and reporting of vulnerabilities within the environment.
• Assist IT support to meet service level agreements.

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field preferred.
• 5+ years of experience as a Systems Administrator or similar role preferred.
• Experience deploying, troubleshooting, and administering Windows Server 2016+
• Experience managing, troubleshooting, and administering VMware 8.0+
• In‑depth knowledge of networking protocols, technologies, and standards (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VLANs, VPNs, etc.).
• Strong knowledge of the principles of cybersecurity, vulnerabilities, and compliance.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Must possess strong interpersonal skills; ability to interact effectively with all levels of personnel, vendors, and subcontractors.
• Ability to quickly self‑educate with new products.
• Technical familiarity with the following preferred:
  Fortinet suite (Forti Gate, Forti
  
  EDR, Forti
  
  EMS), Dell VxRail servers and storage, Office 365, and VOIP systems.

Must possess and maintain a current and valid Class C Pennsylvania Motor Vehicle Operator’s Driver’s License throughout employment.

Successful completion of a background check/motor vehicle report is required.

Each employee of the Authority is required, as a condition of employment, to be a bona fide resident of Allegheny County. If the employee is not a resident of Allegheny County at the time of hire, they will be required to establish and maintain residency within Allegheny County within six (6) months after their hire date. While employees and applicants are not required to be residents of the City of Pittsburgh, the Authority will give a hiring preference to employees or applicants who reside within the City of Pittsburgh in choosing between two equal candidates.
