Materials Engineer – Product Development
Salary: $120,000 - $150,000 per year

Position Summary
Our company is seeking a Materials Engineer – Product Development to support the development and commercialization of products utilizing advanced materials, including thermoplastics, thermosets, composites, coatings, and metallic alloys. This role offers the opportunity to work on projects from concept through production, gaining hands-on experience in polymer processing, plastic part design, materials development, testing, and failure analysis.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and evaluate new products, materials, and components.
- Support product design from concept through commercialization and production.
- Develop polymer formulations and evaluate material performance.
- Coordinate prototyping, testing, validation, and pilot production.
- Conduct and interpret thermal, mechanical, and chemical testing, including FTIR, DMA, DSC, TGA, and tensile testing.
- Troubleshoot design, material, tolerance, and manufacturing issues.
- Participate in supplier selection, tooling, and cost evaluations.
- Lead or participate in cross-functional design reviews.
- Prepare technical documentation and provide product training.
- Collaborate with Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality, Sales, Marketing, and suppliers.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Chemical, Materials, Polymer, or Mechanical Engineering.
- 3+ years of experience with plastics, polymers, materials, product design, or plastics processing.
- Knowledge of thermoplastic and thermoset materials, testing, and failure analysis.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and presentation abilities.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office.
- FEA experience with Abaqus or ANSYS is a plus.
- Moldflow Insight experience is a plus.
- Willingness to travel globally up to 25%.
