Responsibilities

  • Lead identification of applicable engineering design standards, functional standards, specifications, and regulatory requirements/guidance (internal/external).
  • Own overall design delivery for capital project(s); coordinate design activities with Project Manager during all design phases.
  • Deliver conceptual and basic design reviews; direct development of design requirements.
  • Assist with design schedule development; participate in selection of A/E firms.
  • Coordinate with A/E firms to develop earned value progress systems (discipline-based progress vs. invoice amounts).
  • Expedite design decisions; manage information flow between design team and system owners.
  • Ensure design meets approved intent; resolve design-related problems through design governance.
  • Identify inefficiencies and develop strategies to meet/improve design hours plan.
  • Support development and maintenance of standard operating procedures/work instructions/best practices for design/verification.
  • Review/approve key design personnel (internal/external) with Project Manager; work with engineering tech center and technical/constructability resources to resolve issues.
  • Ensure replication during design when applicable; support value engineering efforts.
  • Review design-related invoices; participate in KPI reviews/assessments.
  • Participate in selection of verification professional services.
  • Develop Project Verification Plan, Traceability Matrix, and risk assessments (execution not required).
Basic Requirements
  • BS in Engineering (Chemical or Mechanical preferred)
  • Minimum 5 years manufacturing and/or engineering experience supporting pharmaceutical or API networks
  • Authorization to work in the United States full-time (Lilly does not sponsor visas/work authorization)
Additional Preferences
  • Pharmaceutical process/project engineering experience; strong project management
  • Conflict resolution and influence across project/site personnel
  • Knowledge of capital project delivery and A/E design activities;
    Lilly technical resources
  • Ability to frame complex decisions/analyses and implement according to plan
  • Willingness to relocate/travel (avg ~25%) and work long-distance with little supervision
