Senior Environmental Engineer​/Project Manager

Excalibur Group LLC is a small environmental consulting firm providing strategic services to a select group of long-term industrial and commercial clients. For more than 30 years, we have built lasting client relationships by delivering practical, technically sound solutions and exceptional client service.

Unlike many consulting positions, this role is intended to become a key leadership position within the firm. We are seeking an experienced environmental professional who is interested in more than simply managing projects. The successful candidate will develop long-term client relationships, assume increasing management responsibilities, and have the opportunity to earn an ownership interest as part of the company’s long-term succession plan.

Working directly with the firm’s principals, the successful candidate will manage a diverse portfolio of environmental consulting projects often acting as an Owner’s representative, involving underground storage tanks (USTs), environmental remediation, site investigations, regulatory compliance, environmental due diligence, and project management.

Our goal is to transition long-standing client relationships over time while maintaining the high level of technical quality, responsiveness, and client service our clients have come to expect.

Although most of the work can be performed remotely, candidates must reside in the United States, preferably in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania and be available for occasional travel to project sites to support environmental sampling, field investigations, and client meetings.

• Manage projects as third party technical reviewer for the cleanup of petroleum releases.
• Serve as project manager and primary point of contact for assigned clients.
• Prepare technical reports, work plans, proposals, and regulatory submittals.
• Coordinate subcontractors and specialty consultants.
• Manage project schedules, budgets, and deliverables.
• Participate in environmental sampling and field investigations as needed.
• Attend client meetings and interact with state and federal regulatory agencies.
• Provide technical expertise on Pennsylvania Underground Storage Tank (UST) regulations and corrective action projects.
• Help strengthen existing client relationships while identifying opportunities to expand services.
• Contribute to the firm’s long-term leadership, strategic planning, and continued growth.

• B.S. or M.S. in Environmental Engineering or a closely related engineering discipline.
• Current Professional Engineer (P.E.) license in Pennsylvania (required).
• Minimum of 10 years of environmental consulting experience.
• Extensive experience with Pennsylvania Underground Storage Tank (UST) regulations, Act 2, and corrective action requirements.
• Demonstrated success managing environmental consulting projects and maintaining strong client relationships.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Strong project management, organizational, and leadership abilities.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.

Experience with one or more of the following is highly desirable:

• CERCLA/Superfund investigations and remediation
• Third-party technical reviews
• Groundwater and soil investigations
• Environmental remediation design and implementation
• Environmental due diligence and Brownfield redevelopment
• PFAS investigations & industrial facility compliance
• Multi-state environmental consulting and regulatory coordination
• Business development with new and existing clients

Technical expertise is essential, but equally important are sound judgment, professionalism, responsiveness, and the ability to build trusted, long-term client relationships.
