Sr. Financial Analyst, Wharton Finance & Administration

Wharton’s Financial and Administration department seeks a Sr. Financial Analyst to support 20+ units, accurately prepare and maintain financial records and reporting, develop budgets, and oversee P&L reporting.

Responsibilities
  • Ensure financial records are accurate and financial agreements are properly executed in the reporting system; take corrective actions as necessary.
  • Act as the business administrator for assigned research centers and collaborate with the financial operations team on the unit’s budget and forecast process.
  • Serve as lead and subject matter expert for school and university projects, including annual tax and year‑end reporting and ad‑hoc requests.
  • Deliver accurate financial reporting to internal team and business units.
  • Create and maintain a database of internal agreements; act as subject matter expert on revenues, transfers, and current expense; record transactions in the Penn Accounting system (BEN Financials).
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree with 5‑7 years of related experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Previous finance/accounting, reporting, and analysis experience.
  • Advanced technical skills, including spreadsheet proficiency.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, including professional email writing and the ability to enforce policies and guidelines diplomatically.
  • Attention to detail, accuracy, strong business acumen, and financial management skills.
  • Knowledge of Penn’s financial systems a plus.
