Job Overview
This is specialized administrative and supervisory compliance work implementing and overseeing the provision of election laws affecting primary, general and special elections.
The employee in this class supervises a small elections staff and temporary election workers to distribute, collect, and maintain compliance documents for candidates and to impose fines for campaign finance violations. The employee is responsible for disseminating legally required public advertisements and communications regarding election announcements and public meetings and for providing foreign language interpretations. Of significance to the work is interpreting and explaining laws governing all elections, and conferring with state, local, and federal officials on the provisions and application of election and campaign finance laws.
Work is performed under the general supervision of an administrative superior.
- Presently employed by the City of Philadelphia with permanent Civil Service status in the City Commissioners' Department with a performance rating of Satisfactory or higher.
- Completion of two years of coursework at an accredited college or university.
- Two years of experience performing administrative duties dealing with the conduct of elections including one year processing campaign expense reports or interpreting Pennsylvania campaign expense laws.
- Two years of specialized elections compliance work which includes administering the campaign expense program and implementing the realignment of voting divisions.
Any equivalent combination of education and experience determined to be acceptable by the Office of Human Resources which has included the specific experience.
Physical and Medical RequirementsAbility to physically perform the duties and to work in the environmental conditions required of a position in this class.
