Position Overview

Title: Direct Support Professional
- Casual Pool

Rate: $18/hour

Schedule: C Casual employees are to be available to work a minimum of 25 hours per month (either 8 hour or 12.5-hour shifts)

Location: Greater Pittsburgh Area

This entry‑level role is based in residential and group home settings. The primary responsibility is to follow all health and safety protocols outlined in each individual’s Individual Service Plan (ISP) while adhering to department policies and state regulations. The role requires consistent communication and follow‑up with team members, including families, medical professionals, support coordinators, behavior consultants, and other staff.

• Relationship Builder – Engage positively with individuals, regardless of behavior.
• Safety – Provide and maintain a safe environment; supervise, follow rules and routines, and document incidents.
• Environmental Manager – Keep the environment clean, organized, and aesthetically pleasing.
• Activities of Daily Living (ADL) Skills – Teach and assist with room cleaning, chores, laundry, and personal hygiene.
• Family Engagement and Driven Care – Demonstrate commitment to family engagement and individual‑driven care principles.
• Shift Supervision – After training, supervise shifts, plan activities, and complete accurate documentation.
• Other duties – Assist clinicians with service note reviews, conduct observations, provide training feedback, and mentor as needed.

• GED or high school diploma.
• Previous experience with individuals who have developmental disabilities or autism spectrum disorders preferred (not required).
• Driver’s license required.

This role requires regular walking and standing throughout the day, occasional sitting, stooping, bending, kneeling, running, and lifting up to 50 lbs. Frequent verbal and written communication is required. Candidates must be free of dependency and abuse of illegal or illicit drugs, alcohol, inhalants, or controlled substances. CPR, First Aid, and behavior management intervention knowledge and physical ability are required.
