The Medical Underwriting Administration Senior Representative supports the Medical Underwriting team through the review, processing, and administration of Life and Disability insurance applications. This role is responsible for ensuring the accuracy, completeness, and timely handling of underwriting information while maintaining high standards of quality and customer service. The position requires strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
The individual will collaborate with internal partners, contribute to operational improvement initiatives, and support the continued growth and effectiveness of the underwriting organization.
Process Life and Disability insurance applications, ensuring information is complete, accurate, and compliant with established underwriting guidelines and service standards.
Review applicant information and medical histories, approve coverage within assigned authority limits, and identify items requiring additional review or follow-up.
Research application status inquiries, communicate updates to internal partners, and provide timely resolution to operational and customer service requests.
Manage multiple work queues and priority cases while maintaining productivity, quality, and accuracy standards in a fast-paced environment.
Participate in audits, reporting, client transitions, process improvement initiatives, and special projects that enhance underwriting operations and team effectiveness.
Required Skills:
- High school diploma or GED required; equivalent business experience considered.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills with exceptional attention to detail.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to interact effectively with internal stakeholders.
- Strong computer proficiency, including experience with data entry, document processing, spreadsheets, and business systems.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities, adapt to changing procedures, and perform effectively under deadlines.
- Demonstrated commitment to teamwork, customer service, continuous learning, and professional development.
Preferred
Skills:
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent higher education experience.
- Prior experience in group insurance, life insurance, disability insurance, underwriting administration, or insurance operations.
- Knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, and common medical conditions.
- Experience identifying process improvement opportunities and contributing to operational efficiency initiatives.
Salary Range: $46,500-$66,500

Actual base salary will be determined based on several factors but not limited to individual's experience, skills, qualifications, and job location. Additionally, employees are eligible for an annual discretionary bonus. In addition to base salary, employees may also be eligible to participate in an incentive program.
